Lorna's way of working
Lorna is an empathetic practitioner who takes a person-centred and embodied approach to art therapy. With creative expression at the heart of her practice, Lorna aims to help people explore their emotions, relationships and identity. She strives to provide a therapeutic space where clients feel empowered to discover themselves and achieve personal growth.Lorna tailors her approach for every person and session, allowing each individual to engage at their own pace through image-making, sensory exploration and verbal reflection. She has a particular interest in nature-based art therapy.
Lorna's background and training
Lorna has significant experience in supporting roles through her work as an NHS occupational therapist in a number of social work and healthcare settings. She has also aided the development of vocational and employment opportunities for marginalised groups and established a community-based creative initiative for adults with disabilities. Prior to pursuing a career in therapy, Lorna gained early management experience in the corporate sector before moving into managerial roles in hospitality.
Lorna has an MSc in Art Psychotherapy as well as a BSc in Occupational Therapy from Queen Margaret University. She holds NCFE CACHE level 2 certificates in Counselling Skills & Awareness of Mental Health Problems and has completed NES AHP training in healing complex trauma.
Lorna is committed to continuous professional development, with recent training in Supervision, Nature-Based Art Therapy, Advanced Nature-Based Expressive Arts Therapy and Trauma-Skilled Practice (Levels 1–4).
Lorna is accredited by the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC). She is a full member of the British Association of Art Psychotherapists (BAAT) and a member of the Royal College of Occupational Therapists.
Lorna's fee
